300,000 Malaysian to resume work in Singapore

KUALA LUMPUR – About 300,000 Malaysian workers will be allowed to work in Singapore while the movement control order is in force said Senior Minister (Health Cluster) Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

The workers who were commuting daily will be provided a temporary accommodation during the MCO period after Malaysian and Singapore governments agreed to allow its citizen to work on the island.

Ismail Sabri said that the Singaporean government agreed to arrange the provision of accommodation for the Malaysian workers for the next two weeks and would screen the workers for their health before they return back to Malaysia

The movement control order (MCO) is a restriction movement order that were imposed from March 18 to 31 that prohibits Malaysians to travel outside the country for work. Visitors are also not allowed to enter the country.

According to Wisma Putra, Singapore agreed to facilitate and assist workers while waiting for employers to find them suitable accommodation.  Those Malaysians having problems with accommodations are urged to contact the Malaysian High Commission for assistance at +65-6235 0111 and is located at 301, Jervois Road, Singapore.
