Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has detained the former Prasarana non-executive chairman Datuk Seri Tajuddin Abdul Rahman yesterday over two charges of power abuse.
It has been reported by various news portals that after the arrival of the Pasir Salak MP together with the UMNO election director at the MACC headquarters, he has been detained for the recording of his statement yesterday and has been released on oral bail. According to a source, the said investigation is in conjunction with the raid that happened at the Prasarana office in January of this year.

One news site also mentioned that Tajuddin was meant to be charged yesterday as well but MACC was still waiting instructions coming from the Attorney-General’s Chambers at that time. Details regarding the charges were not provided but allegations of conflict of interest have emerged as Tajuddin was previously accused of the same thing concerning the Prasarana’s operations and business dealings.
MACC has previously announced on May 5 that their investigation on the power abuse in Prasarana Malaysia Bhd. has been concluded. Chief Commissioner Datuk Seri Azam Baki said that the documents related to the investigation was already submitted to the attorney general’s (AG) office and is currently just waiting for the next step to take. Without mentioning any name, Azam said that various cases were discovered against an individual in Prasarana, cases which are related to power abuse.
The name of the individual was not provided, but since last year, power struggle between chairman Tajuddin and former CEO Muhammad Nizam Alias was being reported by various media outlets in which Nizam’s dismissal became the result.
“Let us wait for the AG to study the case and decide the next course of action. Most of the cases involve the element of power abuse under Section 23 of the MACC Act 2009,” he told the press at that time. Yesterday, Tajuddin was terminated as Prasarana Malaysia Berhad’s non-executive chairman by the Ministry of Finance (MoF) to be take effect immediately which rooted from an online petition garnering over 100,000 signatures due to his disastrous handling of press conference related to the LRT accident
