Ipoh’s Ar-Ridzuan Medical Centre latest private hospital located in Perak will administer Covid-19 vaccination to the people of the state to accelerate the vaccination process. ProtectHealth Corporation Sdn Bhd (ProtectHealth) has designated the medical centre as part of the national vaccination centres (PPV) under the supervision of the Health Ministry.

In comparison to larger vaccination centres, like the one at the Stadium Indera Mulia, the vaccination process ran smoothly at the PPV as it was not too crowded in the centre. There was also enough parking spaces which resulted to reduced traffic congestion in the area. According to Khairul Salleh Abdul Rani, who is the Ar-Ridzuan Medical Centre group general manager, the recipients of the vaccine mostly came from the Kinta district, such as Manjoi, Simpang Pulai and Ipoh.

He said that this program will aid the state government in reaching the target of 80 per cent vaccination rate among the public fast and as well as to create herd immunity. Khairul also emphasized that the recipients must still register for their vaccination under the MySejahtera application despite the medical centre being a private hospital.

He added that the recipients cannot choose their vaccination nor the centres as they are all part of the national immunisation program and that every registration must come under the MySejahtera application. Khairul also clarified that they do not sell vaccines, and that it’s free for the public.

“At the moment, we are only providing the Sinovac vaccines and for the first two weeks we limit the recipients to 50 people a day. However, our actual capacity is about 200 recipients per day. We will increase to our maximum capacity soon,” he said. He pointed out that the individuals who are eligible to receive the vaccine at their centre at the moment are those who are under the category of high risk or senior citizens.
