Pia Wurtzbach has just realized her secret desire to run a marathon, and she did so with the support of a cheering audience of Filipinos.
Filipinos worldwide flocked to her side as she completed the annual New York City Marathon, just like they did when she first stepped foot on the Miss Universe platform.

“This medal symbolizes the significance of keeping the promises we make to ourselves. To me, it was running because I wanted a new challenge, a new discipline – to be healthier & to step out of my comfort zone, to see how far I could go,” she captioned her Instagram image, which featured the celebrity holding her coveted medallion.
“This time, I ran the marathon for me. This was my method for caring for myself. And now it has enhanced my life so much since it has put me in a better position, so I feel refueled and energized to serve others.”
Included in her complimentary Instagram post were photographs of Filipinos in New York City hoisting the Philippine flag and signs reading “Takbo, Pia, takbo!” as well as remarks from the LGBTQ+ community.
She stated, “I’m grateful for all the support and cheering on the ground and online. I noticed your signages, your messages, and posts—kahit sobra yung kaba ko and ‘yung pagod 5 hours in, lumalakas loob ko.”
