Police arrested 37 people for violating RMCO

KUALA LUMPUR – A total of 37 individuals have been arrested nationwide yesterday for defying the Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO), Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said in a statement.

The arrested individuals, mostly pub-goers were fined while five of them have been remanded. Individuals were caught were holding activities at nightclubs with large gatherings making social distancing difficult, other were arrested because of violations of the standard operating procedures.

Ismail Sabri said the police were able to conduct 65,253 checks to monitor the standard operating procedures and RMCO compliance yesterday. 2,762 teams will over 12,000 personnels perform checks at 3,974 supermarkets, 5,607 restaurants, over 1,000 hawker stalls and factories including 3,718 banks, and 740 government offices. 65 roadblocks were also set up to perform checkpoint for over 40,000 vehicles. 1,120 inspections for land transport terminals, 252 water transport terminals and 121 airport terminals
