It is a given for students at Taft Avenue, Manila, including DLSU, CSB, St. Scho, and other institutions, to acquire weight while in college. Taft gives students every opportunity to satisfy their appetites every day because it is home to some of the most delicious—albeit unhealthy—restaurants that are conveniently located within walking distance!

1. Flaming Wings

Although it’s not the most affordable restaurant, Flaming Wings consistently does its job. By “job,” I mean spending the rest of the day undoubtedly feeling bloated. Their Wicked Oreos are a must-have, and the Chicken Tenders are a gift from heaven. If you’re in Taft right now, I recommend that you get there immediately.

2. Tori Box

Fried chicken that’s too oily and too dry seems like it would make it impossible for you to ever have six-pack abs. But with Tori Box available, who needs stomach muscles? Some people would argue that you might as well visit McDonald’s or Jollibee if you want unhealthy chicken. You would be seriously mistaken if you did that in place of sampling the chicken from Tori Box, which is available in a number of varieties.

3. Exile On Main St.

Finding the restaurant ahead of time is the difficult part of dining at Exile on Main St. But once you find it (spoiler alert: it’s close to Burgundy Transpacific Place entrance), it’s like finding a pot of (sweet) gold. Each and every Taft student should experience Exile, with its extensive selection of affordable meals and delectable desserts to cap it all off. Ignore it; it’s just something that everyone has to attempt.

4. Bagnet 8065

After 30 minutes of a great lunchtime barkada session with your friends, Bagnet 8065, located at Leon Guinto St. Brgy. 727, Malate, Manila, will win you over. Simply said, pass on the soup. Even if certain dishes appear pricey, the quality and amount will be plenty to satisfy you all, and the food will be of excellent quality.

5. Zark’s Burgers

Have you ever wished to devour a mouthwatering one-pound burger with an abundance of delectable fries after grasping it firmly with both hands until all the fat is gone? Are you not hungry right now? Zark’s serves the greatest burgers in Taft and is a terrific venue to watch some of the biggest sporting events around, so you may as well go there. I also wish you the very best of luck if you make it through the Tombstone Challenge!

6. Noel’s BBQ

It’s difficult to conceive how paying 50 pesos for a lunch will be sufficient to satiate your wants for the remainder of the day, especially after sitting through numerous lectures or a test, given how pricey everything is these days. However, Noel’s always delivers—leaving you with extra money to indulge in other treats. Their sauce is unmatched, and their BBQs are amazing. Even if the dining space lacks aesthetic appeal, it doesn’t matter when the BBQ is as good as it gets.

7. Rap’s Steaks and Cakes

Who would have guessed that for just Php 140, you could have amazing steaks? That’s what Rap’s Steaks and Cakes, which is conveniently situated across the street from DLSU’s Velasco Gate, provides, along with as many jugs of gravy as possible! Rap’s cheesecakes or cupcakes for dessert will make you want to skip class and just take a nice sleep once you’ve finished your well-done or medium-rare meals.

8. Ate Rica’s Bacsilogan

To put it succinctly, if you are a student at Taft and you haven’t eaten the stall’s other dishes, including the renowned Bacsilog with “Chiz-Knorr” sauce, then you aren’t a student from Taft.
