prime minister chinh leads recovery efforts after typhoon yagi devastates quang ninh and hai phong

Following Typhoon Yagi’s strong attack, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has rallied the government to carry out quick actions meant to lessen the devastating repercussions of the storm. Two of the most severely affected areas, Quang Ninh and Hai Phong, suffered great damage from the storm that tore across northern Vietnam.

The Prime Minister is giving recovery initiatives first priority as widespread damage affects infrastructure, crops, and residences as well as guarantees of prompt relief and aid for the population.

Widespread Damage in Quang Ninh from Typhoon Yagi

Typhoon Yagi seriously damaged Quang Ninh province, which is well-known for its natural beauty and economic value. The first Department of Search and Rescue assessment from the Ministry of National Defense presents a bleak picture. The high winds of the storm have seriously damaged tens of thousands of houses; roofs have been ripped off.

Apart from the destruction of houses, the storm uprooted or snapped tens of thousands of trees, resulting in dangerous circumstances and aggravation of the general power and communication disruptions. Moreover, the typhoon’s torrential rain resulted in major flooding that submerged thousands of hectares of rice paddies and other crops, therefore endangering the agricultural output and food security in the area. Long-term financial repercussions for the farmers and nearby towns that rely on agriculture for their way of life could follow from the destruction of the fields.

Prime Minister Tours Hai Phong, Hardest Typhoon Yagi Affected Area

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh visited Hai Phong city, one of the regions most affected by Typhoon Yagi, after supervising the circumstances in Quang Ninh. Two people died and extensive damage was done as the storm tore across the city. Hai Phong saw damage or destruction of hundreds of homes, businesses, and schools.

A sobering reminder of the strength of the storm, streets once lined with trees now lay scattered with the wreckage of about 6,000 uprooted trees. Over 16,700 hectares of rice fields and crops were flooded, endangering the livelihoods of many farmers and upsetting the city’s food supply chain, thereby severely affecting the local economy as also Together with important officials, Prime Minister Chinh visited impacted areas to personally evaluate the degree of damage.

He told the Hai Phong people his most sincere sympathies to the families bereaved of loved ones and reassured them that the government will offer quick and all-encompassing assistance to bring about normalcy. His visit underlined the government’s will to support its people during hardship.

Government Reaction and Recovery Strategies for Affected Areas

After his inspection tour in Hai Phong, Prime Minister Chinh called an emergency meeting including local authorities and municipal government. The Prime Minister demanded an accurate and quick assessment of the damage in all spheres at this pivotal meeting. He underlined the need of making sure that every impacted family, particularly those whose loved ones have passed away or suffered injuries, gets quick help.

The directions of the prime minister addressed several important spheres of recovery. First, he underlined the importance of a quick cleanup of trash and fallen trees to guarantee public safety and rebuild the infrastructure of the city. Second, he gave local officials instructions to give restoring of damaged basic utilities such water supplies, telephones, and electricity top priority. The Prime Minister also underlined the need of tackling food safety issues and making sure that people, especially those living in flood-affected regions, have enough food supplies and pure water.

The Prime Minister also focused particularly on the need of promptly fixing broken medical facilities and educational institutions. To minimize the disturbance to their education, he underlined youngsters should be able to go back to school as soon as feasible. Medical facilities, he said, ought to be quickly rebuilt to offer the injured and storm-affected required healthcare services

Understanding the enormous financial load Typhoon Yagi has imposed on Hai Phong and other impacted districts, Prime Minister Chinh declared that the Central Government would provide a significant support package of 4.3 million USD to assist in recovery activities. Rebuilding damaged infrastructure, helping afflicted families, and aiding the agriculture sector—which has been badly hit by the storm’s flooding—will all be uses for this financial aid.

The Prime Minister did, however, also urge local officials and citizens to adopt a self-reliance attitude as He urged Hai Phong to make use of its own resources and resilience as well as to unite the people against hardship. Emphasizing that while government support is important, the will and collective effort of the people would play a major part in overcoming the difficulties presented by the storm, the message of the Prime Minister was one of solidarity and hope.

Deputy Prime Ministers Assess Damage in Other Provinces

The northern Vietnamese recovery initiatives extended beyond Quang Ninh and Hai Phong alone. Several Deputy Prime Ministers were sent to other provinces touched by Typhoon Yagi on the same day the Prime Minister visited. Le Thanh Long, the Deputy Prime Minister, visited Hai Duong province to thoroughly evaluate the damage and ask questions regarding the welfare of people whose farms and houses had suffered from the storm.

Deputy Prime Minister Long underlined the need of being ready during his visit, pointing out that early warnings and preventative actions like stopping fishing operations and offering advance alerts had greatly lessened the human mortality than in past storms. Still, Typhoon Yagi inflicted significant material damage notwithstanding these preventative measures. While great swaths of agricultural land were inundated under floodwaters, thousands of houses, schools, and other vital infrastructure were devastated.

Long underlined that the Central Government’s support package would be allocated to the impacted provinces according to degree of damage. He urged local officials to guarantee effective delivery of relief and that no impacted family be left behind in the process of rehabilitation.

Route to Recovery: Resilience and Unity

Typhoon Yagi’s aftermath reminds us of coastal and agricultural areas’ fragility against natural disasters. Vietnam struggles to defend its people against progressively strong storms and flooding as it deals with the long-term effects of climate change. But the reaction to Typhoon Yagi has shown the resilience and unity of the country as well as the potency of its crisis management capabilities.

The leadership of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, together with the efforts of local administrations and Central Government support, gives hope for quick recovery of the impacted areas. Vietnam is once more demonstrating its capacity to overcome hardship and rebuild in the face of natural events by organizing resources, planning activities, and promoting unity.
