The U-19 Women’s T20 Asia Cup is one of the prestigious tournaments conducted for the teams who hail from the six Asian Countries like India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Malaysia, and Nepal. The 2024 edition commenced on December 15 with two group stage matches at Kuala Lumpur which was organized by Asian Cricket Council (ACC).
Today, the fifth match of the tournament between the Group B teams Bangladesh and Malaysia took place in Kuala Lumpur and it began with the toss won by Bangladesh Skipper Sumaiya Akter who chose to bat first. Initially, everyone had a second thought that Sumaiya should have opted for bowling when Bangladesh batters Fahomida, Sumaiya, Mosammat, Sumaiya Akter and Afia lost their wickets without delivering a powerful performance. Then came the star player Jannatul Maoua whose unbeaten innings of 45 helped the team’s scoreboard to look tough with 149/5 at the end.
