‘Chunyun’ is also known as the annual Spring Festival Travel Rush celebrated before the arrival of the Chinese New Year. It is a tradition followed by the people of China for years and they unite with their family & friends for dinner in the course of Chinese new year eve. The Spring Festival is celebrated in 2025 from January 14 to February 22, 2025 (in total forty days) and the Chinese New Year falls on January 29, 2025.
Expected Travels
- Through Railways, around 510 million cross-regional journeys are expected to take place on rails since the majority of the population opt to travel by this mode of transport to their hometowns/homes.
- Around 90 million passenger trips are estimated with an average of 18,500 flights per day, during this festival.

The travel of this festival reaches its peak on January 25 which is the start of the holiday, so the rail sector has planned to increase from 14,100 to 14,200 rail services. The overnight high speed services are available in Guangzhou and Shenzhen. The Ministry of Transport has also improved facilities for the EV vehicles for charging while traveling a long distance.
