Senior representatives from India and ASEAN joined a meeting in Manila on Wednesday for the 27th ASEAN-India Senior Officials Meeting. Government representatives led by India’s Jaideep Mazumdar and the Philippines’ Ma Theresa P Lazaro presided over the 27th ASEAN-India Senior Officials’ Meeting where they evaluated partnership growth results with both sides.

Senior government representatives met to examine ways India and ASEAN member nations work together in multiple sectors such as travel market development, trade deals, digital and maritime linking, medical programs, and technological advancement. During the meeting both sides made substantial progress toward implementing Prime Minister Modi’s 10-point proposal released at his event during the 21st ASEAN-India Summit. The groups united in declaring 2025 as the designated year for tourism relations between ASEAN and India. Officials put plans in action for both the ASEAN-India Summit and Ministerial meeting which will take place in Malaysia.

During this meeting, Secretary Mazumdar praised that Philippines’ Secretary of Foreign Affairs Enrique A. Manalo decided to decline his invitation to the 10th Raisina Dialogue in New Delhi from March 17-19, 2025. As the driving force of ASEAN-India collaboration the Philippines handles all partnership matters.
