He credited the success of this significant event on the national calendar to collaboration amongst different stakeholders, particularly the Ministry of Communications and Multimedia (KKMM), which supervises the National Day and Malaysia Day 2021 Working Committees.

The 2021 National Day event, entitled “Malaysia Prihatin” (Malaysia Cares), was conducted under revised guidelines for the second year in a row after the Covid-19 pandemic, with physical participation limited.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob and his wife Datin Muhaini Zainal Abidin were under self-quarantine following exposure with Covid-19 patients.
Commensurate with this, Annuar characterized the 2021 National Day celebration as an encouragement to Malaysians to overcome the COVID-19 pandemic crisis based on the “Malaysian Family” approach.
“We (the government) want to give the people fresh hope so they may keep moving ahead and overcome the Covid-19 crisis.
“We acknowledge the long-term depression caused by job losses during the execution of the movement control order (MCO). We hope that this National Day will help us overcome this pandemic with hope,” he added.
Annuar, who took his oath of office before Yang di-Pertuan Agong has complimented the uniformed members for their great performance full of team spirit and patriotism
He was surprised to see his lyrics included in the Malaysian Family video and said that he was not expecting it to be aired.
Local singers Ara Johari, Masya Masyitah, Putra Muhammad, and Sufi Rashid sang the patriotic song.
According to Annuar, the lyrics were inspired by Ismail Sabri’s recent inauguration speech as Prime Minister. “I listened to every word of the prime minister’s address, and the song’s lyrics sprang to mind. It was entirely spontaneous. To produce a patriotic song, I solicited input from people in the music industry,” he said.
