Indonesia’s Foreign Affairs Minister Retno Marsudi held a trilateral meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and the Director of the Office of China’s Central Foreign Affairs Commission, Wang Yi, at her office in the capital, Jakarta, on Wednesday.

She received Wang around 2:57 pm local time at the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Pancasila Building. After signing the guest book, they had a separate bilateral meeting before commencing the trilateral meeting with Russia.

Lavrov arrived with his entourage around 3:29 pm local time. He was greeted by Indonesia’s Marsudi at the Pancasila Building and signed the guest book before the trilateral meeting began.

The high-profile discussion was part of a series of events organised under the 56th ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting (AMM) with dialogue partners.

ASEAN’s dialogue partner countries include Russia and China, along with Australia, New Zealand, Japan, South Korea, India, Canada, the EU, the UK, and the US.

This year, Indonesia is again playing a key role in international leadership as it has assumed the chairmanship of ASEAN for 2023.

During the meeting, Marsudi emphasised the country’s commitment to engaging with partners in an effort to ensure peace, stability and prosperity across the globe.

Furthermore, she highlighted Indonesia will always be consistent in upholding international laws and all values and principles of the UN Charter.

The minister underscored Wang and Lavrov’s support for ASEAN centrality and Indonesia’s ASEAN chairmanship.
