Bima NTB, South Kuta Bali Jolts with the Magnitude of 4.9 & 4.2 respectively

BMKG (the Indonesian Meteorology Climatology and Geophysics Agency) has recognised an earthquake at the epicenter (which is the sea) that reached Bima City, West Nusa Tenggara on January 8,2025 (Wednesday) at 1.52 am. Meanwhile, at 2.58 WITA a magnitude of 4.9 has been encountered in Jakarta.

“Make sure the source of information comes from BMKG or other authorized agencies. Stay calm and monitor the development of the situation from official channels” said BMKG

The intensity of the earthquake has been recorded as IV MMI (Modified Mercalli Intensity) which indicates that the vibration is stronger than expected in many areas. The coordinates recorded from the epicenter are 8.21 South Latitude (LS), 119.27 East Longitude (BT) which is 64 kilometers away from Bima City to epicenter.

The public has been advised to remain calm and avoid unwanted panic which is influenced by information circulated on social media,until, it is an official announcement from the BMKG the people regarding the current situation.
