
China achieved the highest performance in Buenos Aires’ ISSF World Cup competition by winning eleven medals overall. In the 10m air pistol mixed team event Chinese athletes won the gold and silver medals as their best accomplishment of the competition.
Two Chinese teams Ma Qianke/Zhang Yifan and Yao Qianxun/Hu Kai secured first and second positions during qualification while ensuring both finalists would come from Chinese athletes. A gripping contest of abilities repeatedly shifted the scores in the championship match.
Yao and Hu opened the match with two consecutive points ahead of their rivals. The target scores became equal when Ma Qianke along with Zhang Yifan tied up the competition at 2-2. Yao Qianxun along with Hu Kai maintained their lead to reach 10-6 during the competition. Ma Qianke together with Zhang Yifan pulled off a remarkable 10-point scoring run that led to a dramatic gold medal victory with a 16-10 final mark.
Saurabh Chaudhary alongside Inder Singh Suruchi won the bronze medal with India in the exact competition.
Hu Kai earned his second World Cup finish on the podium when he won silver at this competition following his April 3 males 10m air pistol gold medal.
Other Key Highlights:
- The mixed team trap final of the competition saw Chinese Taipei’s Yang Kun-Pi and Liu Wan-Yu defeat Australia’s Mitchell Iles and Penny Smith when the score reached 16-10.
- Diego Valeri and Erica Sessa of Italy brought back the bronze medal placement.
