China tests its expanding military abilities by holding major amphibious landings in the South China Sea because tensions in the region keep growing. The military carried out beach operations practice in Zhanjiang, Guangdong province using vessels that deliver troops and military vehicles directly onto shores like in island invasion scenarios.
News sources show experts from Radio Free Asia who reviewed Chinese social media found large landing ships ready for invasion operations. Warships of this type support amphibious operations better than any other in Taiwan and the South China Sea conflict areas. SAR satellite photos confirmed the existence of three invasion barges around Zhanjiang between March 4 and 11.
Researcher Damien Symon from The Intel Lab confirmed these drills but did not report if the training continued. Special photographs and satellite pictures showed Chinese military barges organized by the coastline as they created a temporary bridge for tanks and military vehicles to reach the shore. The drills take place in Zhanjiang which serves as a crucial base connecting Taiwan and the Philippines through 1000 and 1100km of ocean.
China conducts more military activities below the South China Sea and leads frequent training exercises with its advanced navy and amphibious landing forces. Beijing conducts military exercises to prepare its forces for possible battles especially related to Taiwan. Minister Wang Yi mentioned that Chinese unification with Taiwan is unavoidable and stated this as an actual plan.
