Covid-19: Government to consider barber shops & Laundry Shops To Operate under new MCO protocol

PETALING JAYA – The government will table on a new set of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for businesses affected by the Covid-19. One of which were to consider allowing Barbers and Laundry Shops To Operate In Green Zones.

Defense Minister Datuk Sri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said that the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Nation Security Council of Malaysia is contemplating on whether to give permission to allow them in green zones within the country should the MCO be extended beyond 14th April 2020.

Green zones are areas on which no cases of Covid-19 are reported, continue to remain without infections. Repairs such as  electricians, plumbers and hardware stores. Barber shops can provide basic haircuts, laundry services can continue to operate while veterinary and pet supply stores can provide emergency care and feed. The new set of guideline for the Movement Control Order will be released on Thursday April 9, 2020.
