LONDON – An offer by one of the world’s biggest porn sites to stream its premium services for free was condemned by critics as a move to exploit the coronavirus crisis and silence the compaints of their platform being used to present victims of sex trafficking.
Pornhub, One of the largest platform for streaming sexual content, has come under fire for allegedly failing to remove child rape and sexual abuse related videos and images on their website – a claim the company strongly denies.
MindGeek, the company behind Pornbub, received several complaints on whether all the content available online is consensual. The company denied involvement of running sexually abusive content on their website.
According to a Pornhub spokesman, the website are far more regulated than any major platform and any allegations that they aren’t taking it seriously is categorically false.
“Pornhub will offer Pornhub Premium to everyone in an effort to encourage the importance of staying home and practicing social distancing during the COVID-19 pandemic,” He added. An online petition to shut down the site now has over half a million signatures.
