csis reveals election interference by india, china, russia, and pakistan

The Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) has officially warned about foreign entities trying to change election results on April 28th. During a press conference, CSIS Deputy Director of Operations Vanessa Lloyd revealed that India, China, Russia, and Pakistan are countries that plan to disrupt the 2021 federal elections in Canada by using sophisticated techniques.

According to Lloyd, these countries want to interfere in Canadian democracy and display the necessary resources to do so. The agency takes decisive action against artificial intelligence technologies designed to harm Canadians’ faith in their voting system. Though it proves hard to trace election results back to foreign meddling, CSIS showed that such actions could severely hurt democracy in Canada, reported Reuters.

When the charges emerged, Canada faced diplomatic challenges with the countries India and China. Previous diplomatic actions like displacing Indian diplomats and trading and diplomatic conflicts with China have created new international obstacles. As the new Prime Minister, Mark Carney handles multiple foreign conflicts he prepares for upcoming snap elections to boost his power.
