On Saturday the Department of Health announced there were 32 new positive cases of COVID-19, taking the number to 262.
One COVID-19-positive patient died while another five were recovered.
The country’s death toll owing to COVID-19 is 19 as of Saturday.
Thirteen patients have recovered from the disease so far.
Dr. Aileen S.P. Baviera, former dean of the University of the Asian Center of the Philippines, passed away on Saturday because of COVID-19 pneumonia.
A staff member of a House of Representatives member who screened COVID-19 positively also died Saturday.
Meanwhile, on Saturday, DOH Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said the government’s three hospitals would be ready in a week’s time to be used exclusively for COVID-19 patients. Health undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said in an interview with Dobol sa News TV that the DOH is now planning 140 beds at the Philippine General Hospital in Manila, 120 beds at the Jose Rodriguez Memorial Hospital in Caloocan, and 40 beds at the Philippine Lung Centre
