Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu appears to be delaying the cabinet vote on the Gaza ceasefire agreement that prompted early celebrations in the territory and is expected to take effect on January 19.
Hamas official Izzat al-Risheq has highlighted that the highly anticipated deal reached in the Qatari capital of Doha meets all of the Palestinian group’s conditions, including the return of displaced people to their homes and a permanent end to the brutal conflict.
The Israel-Hamas conflict has killed at least 46,707 Palestinians and more than 1,135 people on the Israeli side. Since the announcement of the Gaza ceasefire, the Israeli military has stepped up its attacks, killing at least 73 Palestinians, as per local figures.
