Dr Noor Hisham: MOH monitoring, studying side effects in Covid-19 recovered patients

KUALA LUMPUR – The Ministry of Health (MOH) says its looking at the side effects and complications on patients who recovered from Covid-19.

According to director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham, MOH is conducting close monitoring on the patients by following-up  treatment to check on the patients progress and if they have mild symptoms, the side effects are maybe less.

However for patients on fourth and fifth infection category, there might be looking at more side effects at a long period of time.

Dr Noor Hisham said on a press conference that MOH is conducting studies on the previously infected patients who are now experiencing complication from the virus, the agency is looking at on whether the infection will cause difficulty in breathing at a prolonged period of time.

MOH is still monitoring the cases. They have assured the people that those whom they monitored have recovered and was already discharged from the hospital.

The Institute for Medical Research (IMR) are also conducting antibodies check for former Covid-19 patients. Earlier reports showed that the antibodies built after one is infected, decreases after eight weeks.

Dr Noor Hisham, however said that there is still more to discover about the Covid-19 virus and finding ways on how to contain it since the virus has only been 10 months since the pandemic started. He said that everyday is a learning experience for them in the Ministry of Health on how to effectively manage and contain the virus.
