Expects more Asean-China trade, says Deputy Chief

The Asean region is expected to do more trade with China amid the coronavirus pandemic crisis, Deputy secretary-general of Asean Kung Phoak said in an interview.

According to the senior official, the proximity with China has made the region a strong trading partners, even in the Covid-19 health crisis period.

He also pointed out that even before the pandemic started, Asean and China trading has been on a positive trend. China has been an important factor in terms of trade and economy.

Now with the coronavirus pandemic, the region has reap the benefits of the trade being closer to one another. The two sides understand the importance of one another in an unpredictable trade situation at the global level.

Kung Phoak said that its easy for the region to bring goods to China and vice versa because of the region being close to the superpower.

Asean has remained China’s biggest trading partner from January to May this year with trade up by to 1.7 trillion yuan (US$240 billion). The Deputy secretary-general also lauded China’s commitment and effort in reducing poverty and urged each member states to practice and learn what they can from China.
