Face shields now mandatory in malls, markets

METRO MANILA – The government are now requiring everyone to wear face shields inside commercial establishment, market as additional safety measure against Covid-19.

According to Presidential spokesman Harry Roque Jr., The Covid-19 National Task Force led by Presidential peace adviser Carlito Galvez Jr agreed on requiring the use of faceshields to commercial establishments in addition to wearing facemask, social distancing and proper hygiene.

Metro Manila and nearby provinces such as Cavite, Laguna, Rizal and Bulacan has recently been placed to general community quarantine (GCQ) until August 31 while the rest on the country are placed un modified general community quarantine (MGCQ).

Department of Health (DoH) cited on a study that wearing a face shield with a face mask offers 99% protection against Covid-19.

Currently, the use of face shield in the workplace and mass transportation are required to lessen the spread of the virus. A joint memorandum of the “No face shield, no ride” policy has been released by various government agencies to force the commuters to acquire face shields. As of Thursday, the total cases of infection is now at 178,022 with over 115,000 recoveries and 2,940 deaths in the country.
