Filipino actress and comedian Rufa Mae Quinto surrendered to the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) upon her return to the Philippines on January 8. She and her family landed at the airport at around 5 am.
The probe is about an alleged investment scam. Quinto is facing 14 legal charges over violation of Section 8 of the Securities Regulation Code in relation to the cases filed by investors against skin care company Dermacare.
Based on reports, all cases against her are bailable. Quinto’s legal team is currently processing her bail, hoping of securing her release soon. Nonetheless, the actress had earlier stressed in a statement that she is “also a victim” of the alleged scam.
Rufa Mae Quinto had noted that she has no connection to any fradulent activities and categorically denies “these baseless accusations”. Further details are yet to be disclosed. Keep an eye out for more updates.
