PETALING JAYA – Parti Gerakan Rakyat Malaysia (Gerakan) today expressed it’s intention to be part of the Perikatan Nasional coalition led by Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

According to Gerakan president Datuk Dominic Lau Hoe Chai, the decision was made and agreed upon by the party committee members during their meeting last May.

He said this after officiating the 45th Negeri Sembilan Movement Delegates Conference, as well as the 33rd Gerakan Women and Youth Conference here today.

Dominic said that the matter was brought up in the meeting and the party unanimously agreed that they should join Muhyiddin’s coalition. The party expressed willingness to join the Prime Minister.

Gerakan will be waiting for a suitable time to meet and discuss the possible alliance with the coalition.

Last 14th General Election, the party lost 11 Parliament and 31 state seats. On 23 June 2018, Gerakan announced that it was withdrawing it supports from Barisan Nasional (BN) to become an independent part.
