GFriend to Reunite with Special Album and Concert for 10th Anniversary Celebration

The iconic K-pop girl group GFriend is making their long-awaited return, marking a decade since their debut. After parting ways in 2021, the six-member group will reunite to release a special album titled Season of Memories and host a celebratory two-day concert, bringing back their signature charm and electrifying performances for fans worldwide.

A Special Album to Commemorate 10 Years

On Monday, Source Music, GFriend’s former agency, officially announced the release of Season of Memories, a heartfelt project celebrating the group’s 10th anniversary. The album will be released on January 13 at 6 p.m., with a pre-release track scheduled to drop on January 6 at noon.

“The special album and concert are part of a project to honor GFriend’s incredible journey over the past decade,” Source Music shared in their announcement. “It reflects the members’ deep desire to give precious memories to their fans, revisiting their hit songs and unforgettable moments.”

Fans are already buzzing with anticipation as this marks GFriend’s first official group activity in nearly four years. The special album is expected to showcase the group’s signature musical style while also offering fresh elements that reflect their growth as artists.

Nostalgic Concert to Rekindle the Magic

To complement the album’s release, GFriend will hold a solo concert titled GFriend 10th Anniversary: Season of Memories on January 18 and 19 at Olympic Hall in Songpa-gu, Seoul. The event is designed to be a nostalgic and immersive experience, allowing fans to relive the magic of GFriend’s music and performances.

The teaser poster for the concert depicts the members joyfully running through a snow-covered field, evoking a sentimental and heartwarming atmosphere. The imagery symbolizes both their cherished past and their exciting reunion.

Adding to the excitement, GFriend also released a 21-second teaser video on their official YouTube channel. The clip opens with the intro of their classic hit Me Gustas Tu, accompanied by the sound of fans’ cheers from their past concerts. The video transitions into a celestial graphic of sparkling stars, culminating in the reveal of a newly designed logo for the group—a symbolic gesture marking a fresh chapter in their career.

GFriend’s Journey: From Breakthrough Stars to K-pop Legends

GFriend debuted in 2015 with their EP Season of Glass, quickly gaining recognition for their youthful charm, synchronized choreography, and emotionally resonant songs. Hits like Glass Bead, Me Gustas Tu, Rough, Navillera, and MAGO solidified their place as one of the most successful K-pop girl groups of their era.

Over the years, GFriend not only delivered chart-topping tracks but also introduced fans to innovative storytelling through their music videos and concepts. They stood out for their ability to balance innocence with strength, capturing the hearts of millions around the globe.

Despite their immense popularity, the group disbanded in May 2021 after their exclusive contracts with Source Music ended. At the time, the agency explained, “After deep contemplation and thorough discussion, GFriend and the company reached a consensus to pursue paths where each member can show the best version of themselves.”

The disbandment marked the end of an era, but it also opened new doors for the members.

Life After GFriend

Post-disbandment, the members embarked on individual journeys. SinB, Eunha, and Umji formed the trio VIVIZ under Big Planet Made, captivating fans with their new music and fresh dynamic. Yuju and Yerin ventured into solo music careers, each carving out unique identities in the industry. Meanwhile, Sowon transitioned into acting, earning praise for her performances in various dramas.

While the members pursued different paths, they maintained a close bond, frequently expressing their love and gratitude toward their fandom, Buddy. Fans, in turn, kept their hope alive for a possible reunion—a dream that has now become a reality.
