‘Glass Onion’ ranks as Netflix’s 3rd most-watched

In its second week in the Top 10, “Glass Onion” by Rian Johnson became Netflix’s third most viewed film in terms of hours viewed in its first 10 days. During the watching window of December 26 to January 1, the sequel to “Knives Out” amassed 127 million hours seen.

With 209.4 million hours, the film enters the ranks of “Red Notice” and “Don’t Look Up” after a spectacular Christmas launch on the streaming service that garnered 82,1 million hours of viewing. It has now achieved No. 10 on the overall list of the Most Popular Films, remaining the most popular English-language picture in the Top 10 rankings.

Following its December 25 streaming debut, “Roald Dahl’s Matilda the Musical” debuted at No. 2 on the chart. In its first week of streaming, the Alisha Weir-starring picture garnered 41 million hours of viewership. Matilda, an unusual girl with a strong mind and rich imagination, takes a courageous stand against adult bullies in the 2022 remake, as in the 1996 original. Also starring are Lashana Lynch and Emma Thompson.

The Jenna Ortega-led series “Wednesday” continues to rule the Top 10 television rankings for the sixth consecutive week, with 103.96 million hours viewed, breaking yet another record. “Wednesday” also broke the record for most hours seen in a single week when it premiered with 341.2 million, then reset the record the following week with 411.3 million.

The third season of “Emily in Paris” ranked second. Following its Dec. 21 debut, the series got 95,3 million hours viewed, a modest decrease from the 117,6 million hours watched in the launch week but still a strong showing for the heavyweight drama. It’s also worth mentioning that Seasons 1 and 2 of “Emily in Paris” returned to the list at No. 8 and No. 7 with 14.55 million and 15.2 million hours viewed, respectively, as fans rewatched or discovered the show for the first time.

In its first full week of release, “The Witcher: Blood Origin” garnered 64.5 million hours of viewing time, placing it in third position. The limited series serves as a precursor to “The Witcher” and follows seven misfits in an Elven world as they go on a mission against an all-powerful empire. The cast includes Michelle Yeoh, Sophia Brown, and Laurence O’Fuarain.

The debut week for the limited series “Treason” was successful. The British drama debuted at No. 4 on the list in its first week of availability, with 56.06 million hours viewed. The political thriller starring Charlie Cox and created by Matt Charman follows the story of an MI6 deputy whose destiny takes a dramatic turn when a reconnection with a Russian agent leads him to question his whole existence.

“The Recruit” follows closely behind with 43.36 million hours seen. This week, it is ranked fifth on the chart, a substantial decline from the previous week’s No. 2 position and 95.6 million sales. It continues to outpace the documentary “Harry and Meghan.” In its fourth week on the list, the limited series garnered 22.5 million hours of viewership.

Elsewhere on the English-language TV list, “Sonic Prime” Season 1 (13.4 million) and “Firefly Lane” Season 2 (13.0 million) both ranked highly (12.77 million).
