IGP: Suspect or insulting Agong, mentally unwell

KUALA LUMPUR – Top Police today had confirmed that the man arrested for allegedly insulting the Yang di-Pertuan Agong is mentally unsound.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Abdul Hamid Bador said that the suspect, who was said to have made the insult in a Facebook posting had a medical record of mental health problems.

The police were investigating the person under the Sedition Act and the Communications and Multimedia Act. “We found out that the suspect is mentally unwell” the Inspector-General of Police told the reporters at a police headquarters in Bukit Aman.
