Ario Bimo Nandito, also known as Dito Ariotedjo, the Minister of Youth and Sports Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, has said that his country is committed to hosting the Basketball World Cup, officially known as the 2023 Federation Internationale de Basketball (FIBA) World Cup.
On Saturday, Youth and Sports Minister Dito Ariotedjo said, “We gladly announce that the preparations for the Basketball World Cup in Jakarta go as planned, so do not worry. The government has allocated a budget to support the holding of the FIBA World Cup.”
He also attended the world cup preparation meeting with Andreas Zagklis, the current secretary general of the International Basketball Federation, and the Indonesian Basketball Association (Persatuan Bola Basket Seluruh Indonesia), the main basketball regulatory organization in Indonesia. The meeting was held online in Jakarta, Indonesia’s massive capital, on Friday.
During the meeting, the Minister of Youth and Sports Affairs reportedly said, “Jakarta is ready to host the Basketball World Cup for the basketball lovers. We are committed to making the event successful.”
Andreas Zagklis extended his gratitude to Indonesia for hosting the prestigious event. He also lauded the construction of the Indoor Multifunction Stadium (IMS) at the Gelora Bung Karno Complex in Jakarta, which is part of the Indonesian government’s measures to host the world cup. He also thanked the Minister of Youth and Sports Affairs for his commitment to host the 2023 FIBA World Cup in Indonesia.
This is the first time Indonesia is hosting the FIBA Basketball World Cup, FIBA’s flagship event.
