PETALING JAYA – Jeram state assemblyman Mohd Shaid Rosli has left the Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia after former prime minister Mahathir Mohamad announces the new formation of Malay-based party.
Shaid, who is also the party’s Kuala Selangor division chief, said that he is now an independent lawmaker that will be aligning to Dr. Mahathir.
According to his statement, He feels that the party’s struggle has strayed away from its ojectives of fighting the kleptocratic government and its struggle for the Malays.
He added that Bersatu working with individuals who were rejected by people in the last election were a factor of him leaving the party. The party was not able to get the view of the grassroots before forming a coalition under the new Perikatan Nasional (PN) government.
Shaid said he will still be the Jeram state assemblyman until the people who gave him the mandate decided otherwise on the next general election. The Kuala Selangor Bersatu Division Chief won the 14th General Election against Barisan Nasional (BN)/Umno seat by 1,191 edging out Zahar Azlan Arifin and PAS’ Mohd Noor Mohd Shahar.
