Award-winning actor Jericho Rosales has been chosen to portray President Manuel L. Quezon in the forthcoming historical biopic Quezon being produced by TBA Studios. The film is scheduled for release in 2025 as part of the studio’s “Bayaniverse,” a series of films that also include the critically acclaimed “Heneral Luna” and “Goyo: Ang Batang Heneral.”
Directed and co-written by Jerrold Tarog, Quezon will delve into the life and leadership of the Filipino lawyer and soldier who was the Commonwealth of the Philippines’ President from 1935 to 1944. The film intends to illustrate Quezon to be more than simply a heroic character – charming, sly and intelligent but relatively complex.
Rosales is expected to make the much-heralded revival of his gubernatorial role in Philippine cinema with his next flick following “The Girl in the Orange Dress (2018)”. He expressed his excitement for the role stating, “There are so many things I can put into the role to build Quezon as a character. That adds to the pressure but at the same time, I am very excited.”
The cast also features the likes of Mon Confiado as Emilio Aguinaldo, Benjamin Alves as a younger Quezon, Karylle Yuzon as Aurora Quezon, Romnick Sarmenta as Sergio Osmeña, JC Santos as Manuel Roxas and Cris Villanueva as Joven Hernando. Quezon is set for release locally and worldwide at the end of this year.
