MACC investigating AirAsia execs over Airbus bribes

PUTRAJAYA – The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has launced an investigation on corruption allegations implicating Airbus and two AirAsia executives.

MACC Chief Commissioner Latheefa Koya the commission (under MACC Act 2009) is empowered and has the jurisdiction to investigate any act of corruption by any Malaysian citizen in any place outside the country.

The Anti-Corruption Commission is currently in touch with UK authorities and is already investigating the matter. Airbus had allegedly bribed two executives at AirAsia Group Bhd and AirAsia X Bhd RM204.8 million to secure contracts to supply aircraft for the said airliner.
