PETALING JAYA – A group of Malaysians build a makeshift pressure pod or personal protective equipment (PPE) for medical frontliners. to assist the ongoing efforts against the Covid-19 in the country.

Kenneth Lim, Brian Lee, and team was approached by Dr Tan Guo Jeng and Dr Khairul Azri Sabri to help build a non-contact testing booth prototype.

Inpired by the South Korean Testing booth, Lim created a similar version of the testing station.

“Frontliners are not machines. They have families  as much to lose as we do, So we decided to help them by launching Project Cov-shield Prototype 1’ and create a pod like the isolation booths with the help of medical experts.”

Lim also said that this booth saves PPE resources and minimized the exposure of the frontliner medical staff.

The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) also played a big role by providing feedback and brainstorming ideas for the prototype.

“We hope that this invention is able to protect our frontliners. We plan to make it speedily deployable and fast for many other makers to use nationwide,” Lim said. Lim added that after building the first prototype, they will be working on a 2nd prototype of this project.
