More than 600 healthcare workers infected with Covid-19, Health Ministry confirms

PETALING JAYA – Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba confirmed that more than 600 frontliners in the medical sector has been infected by Covid-19 since February.

Out of the more 600 healthcare workers, 406 belongs to the government hospitals while the rest are from the private hospitals and university.

According to Dr Adham, one of the policy taken to lift the spirits of MOH workers who tested positive was to provide them with psychosocial support under the ministry’s Crisis Preparedness and Response Centre (CPRC).

MOH worker’s main concerns via the ministry’s psychosocial support hotline are stress from being away from home and family, strict compliance with the standard operating procedures (SOPs), exhaustion and special allowances in relation to the Covid-19.

In the upcoming  World Patient Safety Day 2020 celebration, Dr Adham said that three buildings and two bridges here will be lit in orange for four night as a symbol of solidarity and commitment for the safety of the patients as well as showing appreciation to healthcare workers for their sacrifices during the Covid-19 pandemic. As of the moment, there are 10,052 total cases in the country, with 9,250 recoveries and 128 deaths.
