Joe Goldberg will return, but this time permanently.
Netflix announced on March 24 that the popular psycho-thriller series You would return for a fifth and final season, with Penn Badgley reprising his role as the infamous stalker and serial murderer who will have a “delightfully twisted finish.”
“Will Joe Goldberg finally face his day of reckoning?” The Netflix teaser stated, according to a report from Variety. Original showrunner Sera Gamble will leave the series after season five. Sera, who created the first four seasons of the program, will continue to serve as executive producer. Michael Foley and Justin W. Lo will be replacing Gamble as executive producers.
The production schedule, official cast, and release date for season five have not been disclosed.
Part one of the most recent season of You premiered on February 9, while part two was published on March 9. In part one, Joe, who is assumed dead, seeks to establish a new life in London under the alias Jonathan Moore, a professor. He is then pursued by a serial murderer known as the “devour the wealthy killer.”
Based on Caroline Kepnes’ 2014 novel of the same name, the first season of You premiered in 2018 and featured Joe, an average-looking man with a deranged mind. Season two was based on the sequel Hidden Bodies (2016), while season three was partially based on You Love Me by Caroline Kepnes.
