Buckle up all the anime series fans! An exciting news has been announced on Feb 14,2025 as a valentine day surprise that a new-live action drama series which is titled “Chihayafuru” will be launched on Nippon TV and this original story takes place 10 years after the events of the live-action film trilogy with the same name. This series is slated for broadcast from July 2025. The cast of this series are completely new and the story unfolds as high school students in the Reiwa era take on competitive Karuta. Hirose Suzu will be playing the lead role in the upcoming series.
“As the original author, I have been involved in the script from the plot stage. I sincerely hope that through television the work will be able to deliver the joy of working hard to children and their families. I hope we can enjoy this new world of ‘Chihayafuru’ together” said the original author of this manga, Suetsugu Yuki.
The showrunner Koizumi has also shared his words about this exciting announcement, “In keeping with the spirit of passing on to the next generation, which was also depicted in Chihayafuru Musubi. I will entrust the main role in the production of this drama to the next generation. I will participate in the new role of showrunner, overseeing the scripts in a system called the Writers Room, where I will be co-writing with multiple scriptwriters”.
