NLEX Closed to Traffic, Except for Lorries Bound to Manila

The North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) was closed to drivers coming to and from Metro Manila.

According to NLEX Corp., only delivery trucks carrying basic goods, frontline workers ‘ vehicles and emergency vehicles were allowed through checkpoints at the south entrances of the Balintawak Toll Plaza, Ciudad de Victoria, Marilao Southbound, Mindanao Toll Plaza.

The Bocaue toll plaza was also closed to traffic except for the two central barriers, after President Duterte put Luzon under enhanced community quarantine to help prevent the spread of coronavirus disease (COVID-19), police chief Colonel Rizalino Andaya said in Bocau.

Also closed to traffic was the northbound lane of Balintawak and Mindanao Avenue where checkpoints had been built.

Some restaurants and businesses in this capital city closed due to the quarantine, and as people flocked to public markets and groceries, only a few public utility vehicles operated their roads.

Fernando De la Cruz, a university professor from Bulacan area, complained that alcohol and face masks were no longer available.
