The multiple blazes raging across California are burning thousands of acres of land and destroying scores of homes. Out of an abundance of caution, the Oscars 2025 nominations announcement scheduled for January 17 has been postponed to January 19.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences sent an email to members detailing the changes in the dates from CEO Bill Kramer. The Oscar nomination voting window has also been extended by a couple of days until January 14.

The email also highlighted other scheduling changes, such as the International Feature Shortlist Screening has been postponed. The Palisades Fire, burning near Malibu and Santa Monica, has already destroyed more than 1,000 structures.

Oscars 2025 is set to take place on March 2. Prominent host and Canadian Conan O’Brien is going to host the annual ceremony. Keep an eye out for more updates about the raging situation in California as brave firefighters try to bring the blazes under control.
