On Monday, March 6, Louis Vuitton held its fall-winter fashion show at the Musee d’Orsay, sending a modern lineup of whimsical, sculptural ensembles down a slick, black runway created to resemble a Parisian street.
Nicolas Ghesquiere, artistic director of the label’s womenswear collections, experimented with clothing volumes and trompe l’oeil effects, such as boots that resembled black high heel shoes worn with white stockings and fuzzy coats that resembled blazers.
In addition, there were enormous Bermuda shorts, wide bustier skirts with thin belts, and shimmering beaded gowns.
One of the handbags was designed to resemble a classic blue and green Parisian street sign, with “Louis Vuitton” imprinted in white lettering.
At the conclusion of the event, sound artist Nicolas Becker created the illusion of unseen models strolling down the runway by projecting the sound of footsteps throughout the area.
Ghesquiere then strode out, smiling at the guests seated in the front row, who included actresses Emma Stone, Zendaya, and Catherine Deneuve, as well as members of the family of LVMH chairman and CEO Bernard Arnault.
Pharrell Williams, who was designated artistic director of menswear designs for Louis Vuitton last month, also attended the event.
Tuesday, March 7 marks the conclusion of Paris Fashion Week, which featured renowned fashion houses such as LVMH-owned Dior, Kering SA-owned Saint Laurent, Valentino, and Chanel.
