METRO MANILA – The government is easing more travel restrictions by allowing travel ‘for any purpose’ between GCQ, MGCQ areas.

The government’s COVID-19 task force spokesperson Harry Roque said on Friday that people can now travel freely on areas places general community quarantine and modified general community quarantine starting Friday.

The travel restriction will be lifted as long as the area is not under strict lockdown while the Local government unit will have the free hand on whether they want to impose travel requirements to visitors.

Roque said that IATF allowed interzonal travel even for persons not authorized outside of residences (APORs) on areas under GCQ and MGCQ areas.

He added that travel between MGCQ areas will be declared under the new normal.

IATF also approved the adjustment of age requirements for stay-at-home restrictions. 15 to 65 years old are now allowed to leave their house.

The government’s COVID-19 task force also lifted the ban for international travel starting October 21. Filipinos will be allowed to travel but will be required to provide documents such as onfirmed roundtrip tickets, and travel and health insurance.

Travellers will also need to provide a negative Antigen result taken 24 hours before the departure. There are currently 351,750 reported in the country with 294,865 and 6,531 deaths.
