Police raid illegal mask warehouse in Batam, three higher-ups arrested

The Special Criminal Investigation Directorate (Ditreskrimsus) Team of the Riau Islands Regional Police secured the three suspects from PT Ekasurya Mandiri higher-ups involved in the case of making masks and illegal hand sanitizers on Wednesday (3/4/2020).

The three actors namely, initials S as Director, H as Commissioner and DD as General Manager.

This raid was carried out in a warehouse located in the area of the Batam Business Complex and Industrial Park Sei Panas, Batam, Riau Islands.

This action was carried out on reports from residents who were uneasy with the unlicensed activities.

“The community is restless and reports to us, after this activity can be dismantled,” said the Director of the Directorate of Criminal Police of the Riau Islands Police, Senior Commissioner Hanny Hidayat at the Riau Islands Police Headquarters, Wednesday (4/3).

The evidence found by the police, including masks and hand sanitizers with various brands and without having a Trading Business License that contains a permit for distribution of medical devices.

The following items were confiscated:

  1. Mask, brand Jackson Safety R10 N95 Dual Valve with quantity 57 cartons
  2. Mask, brand Jackson Safety R10 N95 DBS with quantity 5 cartons
  3. Mask, brand 3M with quantity 9 cartons
  4. Mask, brand Drager with quantity 20 cartons
  5. Mask, brand Active Carbon Mask with quantity 16 cartons
  6. Hand sanitizer, brand Jhonson Professional with quantity 60 cartons

“The results of this warehouse raid are illegal,” Hanny stressed.

The three perpetrators who have been secured will be subject to two Articles, namely Article 106 of RI Law No.7 of 2014 concerning Trade, with the threat of a maximum sentence of four years in prison and or a maximum fine of Rp 10 billion.

Then, Article 197 of RI Law No. 36 of 2009, concerning Health, with the threat of a maximum sentence of 15 years in prison and / or a maximum fine of Rp 1.5 billion.
