Prince William meets President Biden and gives out climate prizes

Prince William received US President Joe Biden at Boston’s waterfront on December 2, the last day of a visit by British royals attempting to draw attention to environmental issues.

On their first overseas tour since assuming the titles of Prince and Princess of Wales upon Queen Elizabeth’s death in September, William and his wife, Kate, strove to keep the attention on climate change and other issues they advocate.

During the middle of their U.S. vacation, however, Netflix Inc. released a trailer for a new documentary series about Prince William’s younger brother, Harry, and his American wife, Meghan, reigniting rumors of royal family discord. Additionally, Buckingham Palace was struggling with a new racism scandal.

William smiled when he met Biden on Boston’s harbor in the chilly weather on Friday afternoon. Before a private meeting at the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum, the two men took a little stroll.

White House spokeswoman Karine Jean-Pierre told reporters before to the meeting that the two were anticipated to discuss “common climate goals” and “prioritization of mental health concerns.”

Later on Friday, William and Kate celebrated the recipients of the Earthshot Prize, an award William created to highlight those working on solutions to climate change-related concerns.

“By supporting and scaling them, we can transform our future,” William remarked on stage at the black-tie ceremony attended by David Beckham, Rami Malek, and other celebrities.

Kate and William last visited the United States in 2014, when they were hosted at the White House by then-President Barack Obama.

Their recent journey occurred just days before Harry and Meghan were expected to steal the show at a New York awards gala.

For many in the British media, Harry and Meghan have become royal villains for turning their backs on duty while pursuing lucrative jobs and earning millions of dollars, especially from Netflix.

In contrast, William and Kate are typically presented in the British media as obedient and earnest, in keeping with the late queen’s personality.
