MANILA – The Minor Basilica of the Black Nazarene or Quiapo Church will be on lockdown until next week after a priest tested positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

Parish priest Fr. Douglas Badong confirmed that Quaipo Church has been on a lockdown since June 19 after a priest who stayed in the church during the imposed community quarantine tested positive for the coronavirus.

The priest left the church and returned to Mindanao in mid June however, the Covid-19 positive priest had a stopover in Cagayan De Oro before testing positive in his home province.

Fr. Badong has ordered the church to temporarily prohibit people from entering church premises but Facebook live-streaming of the Mass will continue.

All priest and staff will be undergoing self-quarantine while disinfection in the church are currently on-going. The church lockdown will be until July 4 according to the parochial vicar of the Quiapo Church.
