The Viking Sun Cruise Ship has been rejected by Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo and Surabaya Mayor Tri Rismaharini to lean on the port in those area to prevent the spread of the corona virus.
After passing through the cities of Semarang and Surabaya, the Viking Sun cruise ship approached Tanjung Benoa Port, Bali, Saturday (07/03/2020) even though permission from the provincial government of Bali has not yet been issued.
The ship carrying 848 foreign tourists and 460 crew did not yet have a health certificate that guarantees the health condition of all passengers on the possibility of contracting the corona virus.
This made Bali Governor I Wayan Koster and Denpasar Mayor Ida Bagus Rai Dharmawijaya Mantra rejected the arrival of the ship in the Island of the Gods.
According to the statement of the Head of the Bali Health Service, Ketut Suarjaya, “From the governor’s coordination meeting with the mayor, because there was no clearance, (Viking Sun passengers) were healthy so it was postponed first”.
Vikin Sun ships must have a healthy certificate if they want to lean on the Benoa Harbor, Bali.
The solution provided was sending a medical team to check the health of all Viking Sun passengers before arriving at Benoa Harbor.
This action was carried out by a team of doctors, sanitarians and health epidemiologists with a total of six people at the command of the Denpasar Class I Port Health Office (KKP).
Inspections include checks on health documents, the condition of all passengers, crew and physical vessels.
“Checked today (7/3) on the way (to Benoa) and checked today. So before leaning, the KKP team will go to the ship, “said Lucky Tjahjono, KKP Class I Denpasar.
Lucky said that if all of the checking conditions had been fulfilled, the ship was declared clean so that it could dock at Benoa Harbor. But all of that he returned back to the decision of the Regional Government and Syahbandar or the Head of the Port.
