
Samsung decides to introduce its Galaxy S25 phones to Japan ahead of their worldwide debut. Traditionally Samsung’s new phone releases waited three months in Japan but this launch took place on February 14 after global marketing. Since 2015 Samsung Phones dropped their previous brand name Galaxy for their new phones and returned to using their complete company name “Samsung“.
SoftBank has returned Samsung smartphone sales back to Japanese markets after a ten-year absence which now includes NTT Docomo and KDDI customers for the Galaxy S25 series. Samsung’s market position has dropped to 5% after Apple took 56% while Google held 12% Xiaomi captured 6% and Sharp held a 5% share in the market. Starting February 25 the Galaxy S25 will offer PayPay mobile payment services as a “true AI smartphone” through Samsung Wallet.
The expansion of Samsung’s ecosystem continues with both the available Galaxy Fit3 smart band and future health monitoring purposes of the Galaxy Ring. Industry experts believe Samsung sets its primary goal on building its brand and AI ecosystem instead of acquiring additional immediate market share in Japan’s crowded smartphone market even though pre-orders reached 1.3 million units in 11 days for the Galaxy S25 in Korea.
