Selangor, Putrajaya, Sabah, KL placed under CMCO, says Sabri

KUALA LUMPUR – The federal government has decided to re-imposed the conditional movement control order (CMCO) for the federal territories of Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya, and Selangor state for two weeks starting October 14.

According to Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, the decision to reimpose the CMCO came after the Health Ministry recommended the movement control following the surge of new Covid-19 cases being recorded all through out the country.

There is also a rise of cases being reported in several localities such as Gombak, Petaling and Klang.

Sabri said that for the country to be able to contain the spread of the virus, the National Security Council  held a special meeting yesterday to put several cities under CMCO until October 27.

Under the CMCO, Religious, sports, education, cultural, wedding receptions and social activities are prohibited.

Dine-ins will also be disallowed as only drive-through, deliveries and take-aways may be allowed operations.

Inter-district travels are also prohibited with the exemption of employee travelling for work.

The CMCO in Sabah means that all religious, sports, education are also prohibited in the two weeks period.

Further details of CMCO will be announced in the following days. On Monday, The country recorded 691 new Covid-19 infections, setting a new high for the country.
