
Singapore will further cement its status as an important basketball destination when it hosts three FIBA 3×3 events in 2026 and 2027. The announcement was made at the opening ceremony of the FIBA 3×3 Asia Cup 2025, officially extending FIBA’s partnership with Sport Singapore (SportSG).
There are three tournaments which include the FIBA 3×3 Asia Cup 2026, the FIBA 3×3 World Cup Qualifiers in April 2026 and the FIBA 3×3 World Cup in June 2027. The World Cup Qualifiers will have over 24 teams that will be competing for one of the spots in the World Cup event that is anticipated to feature 40 teams in 2027.
Alex Sanchez, the Managing Director of FIBA 3×3 commended Singapore’s dedication to basketball, saying that it is a perfect location for returning to the Singapore Sports Hub. SportSG’s CEO, Alan Goh noted that their partnership has increased the sport’s popularity in Singapore which is evident through increased attendance and participation in grassroots activities such as the ActiveSG Basketball Academy.
Singapore, which is positioned in the Top 5 in Asia in 3×3 basketball has hosted the FIBA 3×3 Asia Cup for 4 consecutive editions. With more than 1,100 basketball courts and a strong pool of talent, Singapore is primed as a basketball destination.
With upcoming events like the NBA Rising Stars Invitational and the FIBA Intercontinental Cup, Singapore’s investment in basketball continues to thrive making it a focal point for the sport’s growth in Asia.
