Six sentenced to hang for the murder of Kevin Morais

KUALA LUMPUR – Six men, including pathologist Dr R. Kunaseegaran who were charged with the murder of deputy public prosecutor Datuk Anthony Kevin Morais were sentenced to the gallows by the High Court today.

The six accused – Army pathologist Colonel Dr R. Kunaseegaran, A.K Thinesh Kumar, Dinishwaran, M. Vishwanath, Ravi Chandaran, Nimalan were found guilty for killing the deputy public prosecutor 5 years ago.

High Court judge Datuk Azman Abdullah handed out the sentence and conviction of the six suspects during the open court proceedings.

According to Judge Datuk Azman Abdullah, the defense presented by the accussed has failed to raise reasonable doubt on the case. Thus, all six were found guilty and convicted under Section 302 of the Penal Code and will be hanged on the neck to death.

The accused murdered the former Deputy Public Prosecutor while he was traveling from Jalan Dutamas Raya, here to 6D Road No. 1, Subang Jaya on September 4, 2015. His body was found in a concrete drum.

Deputy public prosecutors Saiful Edris Zainuddin and Wan Shaharuddin Wan Ladin led the prosecution while counsel Datuk N Sivananthan represented Dr R. Kunaseegaran and counsel Datuk Sheelan Arjunan on five other charges. Sivananthan said that they will appeal with the decision.
