“Start Sowing in the Midst of Quarantine”

The lockdown happening in the Philippines has set changes to the improvement of the country’s air quality over pollution. To carry on with this development, The Department of Agriculture encouraged filipinos to plant in their own homes during the quarantine.

The Department of Agriculture is embarking on a project in one of the agency’s programs called “Garden Land” that will enable families to have their own food sources during these times of crisis.

Under the initiative, they will offer two types of vegetable seeds to interested individuals who may wish to plant at home on their yards.

If there’s no room at home, residents could use plastic containers such as bottles of mineral water, bags, cans as receptacles for plants.

On March 27, seed distribution to municipalities began through DA research centers and experimental stations in the provinces of Cagayan, Isabela, Nueva Vizcaya and Quirino.

‘KADIWA of Ani at Kita’ will help in distribution of vegetable seeds. DA staff will also be provided with vegetable seeds for planting.

According to DA Regional Executive Director Narciso A. Edillo, interested persons need only to contact the office of their municipal agriculturist to avail of the free seedlings.

This advocacy is something that should receive support and actions. This will not help the environment to gather oxygen but it will also help people to stay healthy.
