The Government Would Conditionally Require Social Activities on a Broad Scale from July 1

Social distancing is important in stopping infectious viruses such as COVID-19 (coronavirus) from spreading. Over coughing , sneezing and close contact, COVID-19 can spread. We reduce our chances of catching the virus and spreading it to our loved ones and within our community by minimizing the amount of close contact that we have with others.

Keeping a distance of about 6 feet between yourself and others is key where possible. It’s also important to practice other preventive measures such as washing hands, avoiding touching our face, coughing into our elbow and staying at home.

But since we’re adapting to the new normal and there are special social acivities to be held there will be conditions in doing those things. In fact the government reminded that such activities will not last longer than five hours, although attendee ability will be limited at 250 participants, explained Ismail.

Public activities that would be permitted include marriages or ceremonies of marriage, aqiqah, doa selamat, tahlil, birthday parties, meetings and others  said the minister at the Covid-19 regular briefing in Putrajaya, National Security Council.

Public health authorities have since March banned all forms of mass gatherings as part of a national movement control order being enforced in the midst of a sharp spike in local Covid-19 infections.

Mass gatherings such as the February Sri Petaling tabligh event were identified as a major source of rising cases for the country, now reaching almost 9,000.

After April, fresh regular reports have dwindled and are now in single digits.

The government has been easing the MCO for most economic operations since May, while continuing to impose social distancing and urging the public and companies to retain social isolation.

Organizers of social events are also expected to follow prescribed standard operating procedures, Ismail has said today. This includes mandatory input temperature recording of attendees. Hosting buffets for reducing waits is often banned for activities with meals provided.
